12-domain server migration: GoDaddy to OVHcloud

The situation
Years of growth had left the business with one aging GoDaddy server running WordPress marketing sites, ASP.NET and WCF applications, SQL Server, MySQL, and a legacy PHP 5.6 site, plus several sites nobody needed anymore.
What we did
- 01Inventoried every site, app, and database, and identified five dead WordPress sites to retire instead of migrate
- 02Specified an OVHcloud VPS in Canada East (Windows Server 2022, 8 vCore, 24 GB RAM) with automated backups enabled
- 03Moved six WordPress sites, six ASP.NET/WCF applications, SQL Server 2019 (patched to the current cumulative update), and MySQL
- 04Kept the legacy PHP 5.6 site running as-is on a compatible runtime rather than force a risky upgrade mid-migration
- 05Cut over DNS and SSL for all 12 live domains in a low-traffic overnight window, followed by 48–72 hours of monitoring
Outcome
Cut over in March 2026 with no downtime. The one issue, installing a compatible runtime for the legacy system, was found and fixed during the move. The client now owns its OVHcloud hosting account outright, and costs came down by 25%.
